Project Background
This homeowner already knew our crew. We had previously completed her master bathroom remodel in Destrehan, and when the aging covered patio wrapping the back of her home started showing its age, she called us back to handle it end-to-end.
The original patio was a long aluminum-pan cover on white fluted columns — functional for years, but the pan roof, ceiling, gutters, and posts had all reached the end of their service life. Rather than patch and paint, she wanted the whole thing torn out and rebuilt properly: real framing, a matching architectural shingle roof, hidden drainage, and finished brick columns limewashed to match the main house.
Because we had already handled permits and inspections on her interior remodel, the second-project process was straightforward: same licensed contractor, same JobTread photo updates, same crew she already trusted on her property.
Scope of Work
This is a full covered-patio rebuild — not a re-skin. Every layer of the old structure is coming off, and each system is being replaced with something built to last another 20+ years in South Louisiana's heat, humidity, and hurricane exposure.
- Complete demolition of the existing aluminum-pan patio cover, ceiling, and posts
- New pressure-treated structural framing sized for South Louisiana wind loads
- New roof decking tied cleanly into the existing main-house roofline
- Matching architectural shingle roof over the entire patio
- Hidden gutter and downspouts routed for clean sight lines
- Brick-wrapped support posts to match the home
- Limewashed brick finish on the new posts
- New vinyl soffit for a finished, low-maintenance ceiling
Phased Build
Complete Demolition
- Removed the entire aluminum-pan patio roof and vinyl soffit ceiling
- Detached and removed the existing white fluted posts
- Pulled the old gutter and downspout runs
- Prepped the tie-in point along the main house roofline for the new shingle roof
Structural Framing & Roof Decking
- New pressure-treated post-and-beam framing sized for South Louisiana wind loads
- Ledger board fastened to the house with proper flashing behind
- Rafters set and roof decking installed cleanly against the existing roofline
- Temporary bracing kept in place until each bay was fully tied in
Shingle Roof, Hidden Gutter & Vinyl Soffit
- Underlayment and drip edge installed across the new decking
- Matching architectural shingles laid to blend with the main house roof
- Hidden gutter and downspouts routed for clean sight lines from the yard
- New vinyl soffit installed for a finished, low-maintenance ceiling
Brick-Wrapped Posts & Limewash Finish
- New posts wrapped in brick to match the existing home veneer
- Brick columns finished with limewash to match the main-house tone
- Base flashing and caps detailed to shed water away from the brick
- Final punch list and homeowner walkthrough before sign-off

Why Homeowners Come Back to Us
Repeat customers don't happen by accident. This Destrehan homeowner already had our crew inside her house for a full master bath remodel — she saw how we sequence work, protect the property, communicate through JobTread, and clean up at the end of every day. When the covered patio wrapping the back of her home needed a full rebuild, calling anyone else didn't make sense.
Every project — interior or exterior — runs through the same owner-operated project management process under Louisiana license #889646. If you're weighing a similar rebuild, our exterior works and shingle roofing pages cover the underlying framing, roofing, and finish detailing we use on projects like this one. Homeowners planning a bigger scope should also review home additions and our St. Charles Parish coverage.
