Is Cajun Home Services licensed to build in Ascension Parish?

Yes. We hold Louisiana Residential Contractor License #889646, which is a state license valid parish-wide, and we carry full general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Certificates are provided with every proposal.

Who issues residential permits in Ascension Parish?

Unincorporated areas — Prairieville, Geismar, Dutchtown, St. Amant, and most of the parish — permit through the Ascension Parish Permit Office. Addresses inside the Gonzales or Donaldsonville city limits permit through those cities. We confirm jurisdiction by address before pricing and handle the filing and inspections either way.

What makes Ascension Parish construction different from New Orleans work?

Soil and structure type. Greater New Orleans is dominated by pier-and-beam homes on soft alluvial soils with subsidence. Ascension Parish is mostly slab-on-grade on expansive clay that swells and shrinks seasonally. Different failure modes, different foundation detailing, different repair strategy — we build for the one in front of us.

Do inland Ascension homes need hurricane-rated roofing?

Yes. Hurricane Ida caused widespread roof loss across Ascension Parish in 2021. We install sealed roof decks with ring-shank fastening and rated edge components, which is the basis for IBHS FORTIFIED Roof certification and the Louisiana insurance discount that comes with it.

Ascension Parish

Ascension Parish General Contractor

Prairieville, Gonzales, Geismar, and Dutchtown — roofing, remodeling, additions, structural repair, and new construction from a licensed Louisiana contractor with crews working the Baton Rouge–Ascension corridor.

The Fastest-Growing Parish in Louisiana, Built on Clay

Ascension Parish has added housing faster than almost anywhere in the state, and nearly all of it is slab-on-grade on expansive clay soil that swells through the wet season and shrinks through late summer. That single fact drives most of what we do here: foundation detailing on additions, crack patterns that tell you whether a slab is moving or settled, and finish work sequenced so tile and drywall are not installed into an active problem.

Add Hurricane Ida's inland wind damage and a housing stock hitting the twenty-year mark, and the parish needs a licensed general contractor rather than a crew of subs. Cajun Home Services works Ascension under LA License #889646 with insured crews, parish permits pulled in our name, daily photo documentation, and a one-year workmanship warranty.
